Etzala is the attendance platform for schools, colleges, universities and training providers. Students check in on site with the app. Staff see attendance, absences and excuses in the browser.
Every organization gets its own separate space. The app is free for students.

How it works
Etzala replaces attendance lists with a check-in that happens at the venue and cannot be handed on to someone else.

Set up your organization
We set up your organization. You add locations, classes and sessions, with your own terms, logo and colours if you like.

Invite students
Staff invite students by email or import them from a CSV or Excel file. Accounts are only available by invitation from the organization.

Check in on site
During a session's check-in window, students check in with the app at the venue. The check-in is bound to their own device.

The app for students on iPhone and Android, the web app for staff and administrators.
Check-in at the venue
At check-in, the app verifies that the student is at the venue. You set the time window, grace period and radius. Staff can also check students in by hand.
Absences and limits
Etzala counts absences automatically, takes excuses into account and warns before a limit is reached. Students can see where they stand in the app at any time.
Sessions and timetable
Single sessions and series with exceptions. When a session changes, students see it straight away in their daily view.
Overviews and exports
Attendance by class, session and person at a glance. Export to Excel for your records.
Reports by email
Regular reports for students, and alerts for staff when absences pass a threshold.
Your own look
"Class" or "course", "student" or "participant": you choose the terms, logo and colours. Etzala is available in English and German.
Privacy by design
Attendance is a sensitive subject. Etzala only collects what is needed as a record.
Read the privacy notice- Location is read only at the moment of check-in. There is no movement tracking.
- No ads, no tracking, no analytics tools in the app.
- Face ID and fingerprint are checked by the device itself. Biometric data never leaves it.
- Each organization sees only its own data. Personal data is anonymized once the retention period ends.
For students and staff
Etzala is only for members of organizations that use it. There is no open sign-up for individuals.
Students
Students invited by their organization receive an email. In the app they enter their email address and sign in with a code sent by email. The app for iPhone and Android is coming soon to the App Store and Google Play.

Etzala for your organization
Etzala is starting out with its first organizations. During this pilot phase we set up every new organization personally. Self-service registration for organizations is planned for January 2027.
Organizations are billed by invoice. The app is free for students and has no purchases.
